Congratulations to First Star Hockey players Ethan Belchetz and Callum Croskery on winning Gold at the U17 World Challenge. Croskery and Belchetz played on Team Canada White, who defeated Sweden in the semi's and advanced to beat Team Canada Red in the Gold Medal game, after Team Canada Red eliminated USA in the other semi-final match-up.
Croskery and Belchetz have both trained skill development with FSH since their U10 seasons, and were coached by the FSH staff of Mike DeRenzis, Ryan DeRenzis, Dom DeRenzis and Tyler Stothers from U11 to U16 with their 2008 AAA Oakville Rangers team, who culminated their 6-year journey with winning the 2024 U16 OHL Cup.
Belchetz spent his 2024-2025 season as a rookie with the Windsor Spitfires in the OHL, and at the time of this post is currently sitting 3rd on some analysts lists for the 2025-2026 NHL Draft.
Croskery spent his 2024-2025 season with the Chicago Steel of the USHL, as he awaits his next step of attending NCAA's Division 1 Boston College on a scholarship, although the Soo of the OHL will hope to see Callum before that with this new CHL rule change that took affect this season. Croskery is another player who is hopeful to be selected in the 2025-2026 NHL Draft.
